Brenda Quiroz-Maday entered a plan for “AlterNative” into our competition in 2009. That company is no longer operating.

Are you currently running / working with a mission-driven business? What is it called? 

Yes. Business Development and Management, llc. BDM llc company conducts feasibility studies for companies/organizations that want to explore their green revenue potential, supports  environmental management systems implementation and advices or represents companies to obtain green procurement.

Is it for the business plan you entered the William James Foundation Socially Responsible Business Plan Competition with? 

It’s not but is has a similar mission.

Who are your customers? What is the benefit you are offering them? How many people are you employing? 

Customers are government organizations (SBA), and small businesses with sustainable missions or interest on becoming sustainable: e.g. IT, water treatment plant, energy efficiency, construction, etc. For companies that are already mission oriented, I help enhance their business acqumen. For companies that are exploring their sustainability potential,  I help by finding the strategic importance of sustainability and integrating it to their overall business plan. I employ myself, and work a lot with independent contractors.

Feedback was great! It helped me realize that the business I was pursuing was not the right one for me.
