The Mentor Capital Network is pleased to work with our partners in the world of identifying, supporting, and scaling businesses that will make the world a better place.
These partnerships can take several forms. Because the MCN is a non-profit, all partners and companies that we work with must be aligned with the MCN’s mission.
Outreach Partners for an already announced program
The MCN will provide discount codes to partners who send us quality applicants, to reduce the processing fee from $500 to $100. There is no cost to apply, but there is no guarantee of acceptance. The MCN typically has an acceptance rate of 10%. Our traditional program is described here.
Guaranteed Slots for an already announced program
If the MCN and our partner pre-certify the companies, they can be entered into our program as a bloc, for a processing fee of $500 per company.
Guaranteed Slots for a program with a custom timeline
This costs $500 per company, plus a fee of $5,000 to $10,000.
Producing specific workshops, either in-person or online. These can include, but are not limited to:
- An opening networking event with entrepreneur interviews
- Telling Your story with your audience
- Honing Your Pitch – Crafting a precise and impactful story
- Public Relations and Marketing – Creating your company brand
- Financial Basics
- Preparing for Investment
- And a variety of other workshops.
Our particular focus is on peer-to-peer learning, so our workshops involve the entrepreneurs supporting each other. The “Telling Your Story” workshop is basic in the principles of improvisational theater, and helping entrepreneurs engage with their community. The “Honing Your Pitch” is a more traditional workshop focused on elevator pitches and presentation.
Workshops fees drop significantly if several are purchased as part of the program, as a major expense is getting to know the companies and following up with them. Travel costs are extra.
- 1 workshop: $3,000
- 2-3 Workshops: $2,000 each
- 4-5 Workshops: $1,500 each
- 6+ Workshops: $1,000 each
Pitch Events: Investor Fishbowl
This event features professional investors and subject matter experts who ask constructive questions, in a way that mimics a real investment pitch. Because the goal of this event is education, rather than investment (although that does occasionally happen on follow-up), the due diligence is focused on quality of presentation more than quality of the company. This event also features a “behind the curtain” panel, where the investors have a public meeting where they discuss the next steps they would have taken, as though the entrepreneurs were no longer in the room. These events cost $5,000 to $10,000 to produce, depending on the number of companies involved.
Pitch Events: Green Grab
This event features professional investors who are willing to make commitments on the spot to the right companies. Traditionally, these are early stage four- and five- figure investments. The MCN provides significant due-diligence for this process, and organizing these events costs between $20,000 and $50,000 depending on the number of companies involved. One difference between our events and the traditional “shark tank” model is that we don’t have a fixed presentation time. The conversation takes as long as it takes, to more closely replicate the actual investment process.
