CleanChoice Energy, a renewable energy company that empowers people and businesses to cut emissions and live cleaner lives, has launched CleanChoice Energy Clean Furnace. The new service allows people to offset the harmful carbon pollution created from their home heating and take an important step towards a carbon neutral home. Through this product, Clean Furnace customers will be supporting the protection and sustainable care of forests in the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. The sanctuary was the world’s first refuge created for birds of prey and provides habitat for more than sixteen species, including bald eagles and peregrine falcons.
“Home heating is a stubbornly persistent source of carbon emissions because replacing your furnace with clean heating technology is out of reach for most people. Now with our Clean Furnace product, people can reduce their carbon footprint and support the protection of an important ecosystem,” said Tom Matzzie, founder and CEO of CleanChoice Energy. “As we add up each customer’s seemingly small and simple steps, we can have a big impact on our climate.”
CleanChoice Energy will purchase carbon offsets for each Clean Furnace customer based on the average U.S. household natural gas usage–aiming to wipe out the customer’s negative impact on the environment. On average an acre of forests protected helps offset a ton of carbon pollution. Clean Furnace customers’ offsets will support the conservation of the 2,500 acre Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. CleanChoice Energy customers can feel good knowing they are doing their part to both reduce their household footprint and protect an important ecoregion.
